Yoder Four-Post Cut-Off Mechanical Presses

Yoder Four-Post Cut-Off Mechanical Presses

Yoder Four-Post Cut-Off Mechanical Presses employ a fabricated steel sub-base, with screw-type lateral and vertical adjustment for machine alignment. The heavy, cast semi-steel frame is stress relieved and accurately machined to insure correct and permanent alignment of moving parts. The heavy duty, machined upper crosshead insures accurate alignment of the die rails, which are hardened and ground, and mounted in pilot grooves.

The crankshaft — a heat treated and machined alloy steel forging — and the flywheel are mounted in grease-lubricated, anti-friction roller bearings with dust seals. The air-operated, multiple-disc clutch and spring set brake are electrically controlled. Provision is made on the P-42 and P-52 presses for non-repeat, single stroke operation, manual cutting, and jogging.

These machines are furnished with a solid-type head, adjustable with spacers or, as an optional feature, can be equipped for setting of shut height with a single screw.

Yoder Hydraulic Presses

Yoder Hydraulic Presses

Yoder Hydraulic Presses are custom built in many ranges and bridge the gap between the economics of pneumatic presses and the heavy-duty performance of mechanical presses. In addition to the range of standard 4-post press sizes, Yoder can integrate custom hydraulic presses to their roll forming or tube mill systems, for inline notching as well as cutoff operations.

Yoder Idlers, Side Pass Stands, Non-Driven Stands

Yoder Idlers, Side Pass Stands, Non-Driven Stands

Yoder Idlers, also known as side pass or non-driven stands, are offered in a yoke or crevice style roll housing, with either a worm height adjustment or shimm-able height adjustment.

  • Yoder M-Series Roll Forming Systems: The idle side roll supports, arranged for lateral cross adjustment by screw, for proper pressure adjustment with respect to the centerline of the mill. Vertical adjustment by worm and screw. Arranged one between each driven stand. A steel yoke ties the top of the spindles together. The yoke is easily removed for changing tools.
  • Yoder WH-Series Roll Forming Systems: base mounted idle side roll stands, arranged for lateral cross-adjustment by screw and for proper pressure adjustment with respect to the centerline of the mill.
    • Idler stands include Yoder’s unique top yoke design. This design secures the yoke without the use of threaded roll shafts and hold-down nuts.
    • Vertical idler height adjustment is by shim or worm screw.
    • Optional Idler roll shaft center-to-center distance displayed using a digital counter similar to that used on the driven roll stand SPA adjustment. Indicates center-to-center distance in inches (e.g., 8.000”).
Yoder M-Series Roll Forming Systems

Yoder M-Series Roll Forming Systems

Yoder M-Series Roll Forming Systems are one of the most popular and copied mill stands in the world. Highlights of these systems include:

  • Drive housing encloses all gears in oil tight case.
  • Precision Timken tapered roller bearings (inboard side).
  • Roller bearings, rotating in hardened sleeves (outboard side).
  • Features toggle-link gear train to maintain full gear mesh through entire top roll shaft adjustment.
  • Outboard housing removable from ends of roll spindles and adjustable laterally on spindles. This permits most advantageous support of roll shafts during forming of narrow sections.
  • Alloy steel roll spindles, carburized, hardened, and ground.
  • Hardened hex-type clamping nuts.
  • Micrometer screws to facilitate accurate adjustment of spindles after roll changes.
  • Toggle-type idler gears permit maximum roll adjustment but maintain constant gear mesh.
  • Chain-type flexible coupling interconnects worm shafts of individual roll stands.
  • Top driven idle gear mechanicals available.
Yoder Open Throat Cut-Off Mechanical Presses

Yoder Open Throat Cut-Off Mechanical Presses

The open throat design of Yoder Open Throat Cut-Off Mechanical Presses provides maximum accessibility for die adjustment and service. It also makes for easier removal of finished lengths of stock. These press type cutoffs have fabricated steel sub-bases, with adjusting screws for lateral and vertical alignment. Semi-steel, cast frames are accurately machined to insure permanent alignment of moving parts. Heads are semi-steel castings, deeply ribbed. Long bearing surfaces are accurately fitted to machined ways in the press frame. Long steel gibs hold the head in the ways, insuring proper alignment. Hardened and ground steel die slides support the die shoe and punch holder of the P-25 press. Hardened and ground die rails, mounted in pilot grooves in the press frame of the P-55 and P-75 units, insure alignment of the sliding cutoff die.

  • Hardened hex-type clamping nuts.
  • Micrometer screws to facilitate accurate adjustment of spindles after roll changes.
Yoder Seam Rotation Stands

Yoder Seam Rotation Stands

Yoder Seam Rotation Stands (SRS), or seam orientation unit (SOU), is a unique device, which allows the mill operator to locate and position the weld seam at a particular radial location. In the event of cambered strip or seam wandering it is now possible to place the seam at the twelve o’clock (12:00) position, or wherever the operator chooses to place it in a sixty-degree (60°) axis from top dead center. The Seam Rotation Stand can be supplied with manual adjustment or motorized adjustment. Common Structural sizes include 3.5″ (89.2 mm), 5.5″ (139.7 mm), 6-5/8″ (168.3 mm), 8-5/8″ (219.1 mm) for mechanical tubing and hollow structural sections.

Yoder Single and Double Turksheads

Yoder Single and Double Turksheads

Yoder Single and Double Turksheads control straightness and twist, for rounds and shapes, and frequently designs custom arrangements for specific applications. These turksheads can be manual adjustment, motorized adjustment, or pneumatic adjustment, which Yoder’s application engineers can assist in determining the appropriate choice.

Yoder Single-Point Adjustment (SPA) Kits

Yoder Single-Point Adjustment (SPA) Kits

Yoder Single-Point Adjustment (SPA) Kits deliver the most precision to make it easier to use and more practical to own.

  • No wrenches required to make top shaft adjustments — with the option of hand wheels or hand crank.
  • Digital readouts on both inboard and outboard stands.
  • Readouts indicate actual top-to-bottom shaft displacement in inches with a resolution of 0.0005″.
  • Readouts and screw jacks are matched for actual vertical adjustment dimension, not some random number that has to be saved for reference
  • Screw jacks have true anti-backlash gearing. The assemblies can be adjusted in the future, to maintain the zero backlash and precise location.
  • Spring-loaded linkage coupling makes un-cocking or cocking of top shaft easy to notice and easy to do. (see below)
  • Can be retrofitted to Yoder and non-Yoder mill stands.
Yoder Strut Cable Tray Roll Forming Systems

Yoder Strut Cable Tray Roll Forming Systems

Strut framing channels are used in construction for installation of electrical and mechanical supports as well as utilities and air handling duct to name a few. They are used as a common solution for general industrial framing needs. Due to the versatility of applications and uses, there is a range of strut sizes, material thickness, hole patterns and profile features that may be required. Over the years, Yoder has developed robust Strut Cable Tray Roll Forming Systems for producing strut framing channels that support regional manufacturers as well as the high production OEM producers. The combination strut tooling design that Yoder has perfected enables customers to have a single installation that covers the entire product range with only partial tooling set changeover when switching products. This tooling design helps customers to produce channels in smaller production quantities with faster changeover and less setup scrap so they do not need to maintain large inventories of odd strut sizes in case of an order.
